Point Loads

A point load applies force at a node or a very small region of the model. It is useful for simplified engineering models, but it can create local stress singularities in continuum elements.

Point loads are generally reliable for predicting global quantities such as displacement or reaction force, provided the load path is realistic. They are less reliable for local peak stress directly at the loaded point.
