Material Property Definitions

Material property definitions provide the numerical constants required by the constitutive model. For linear static structural analysis, typical properties include:

  • Young's modulus.
  • Poisson's ratio.
  • Density when body forces or inertial extensions are used.
  • Thermal expansion coefficient when thermal strain is considered.
  • Directional constants for orthotropic materials.

All properties must use consistent units. Unit inconsistency is one of the most common causes of incorrect simulation results.
