Supported Physics Domains in ESD

The theory manual is organized around the physics domains supported by the software. The current table of contents emphasizes structural finite element analysis, with supporting sections for meshing, materials, constraints, solvers, and results interpretation.

The structural domain includes linear static analysis, where the relationship between applied loads and resulting displacements is assumed to be linear. This assumption is appropriate when deformations are small, material behavior is linear elastic, and boundary conditions do not change during loading.

Additional domains such as thermal analysis, thermo-mechanical coupling, dynamic response, electromagnetic analysis, or multiphysics coupling can be documented in dedicated theory chapters when those workflows are supported.
